MSHS PTSA Programs and Committees
Supporting students and staff is what MSHS PTSA is all about. We do this through a variety of programs as listed on this page. Awards
Chair: Open
Description: Prepare and submit applications annually for Washington State PTA awards, including Standards of Excellence, Golden Acorn, Outstanding Educator, and any others the board may decide to pursue. In addition, prepare forms and certificates for any MSHS PTSA awards for volunteers, students, and/or staff. For more detailed job description click here.
Campus Improvement
Chair: Open
Description: Chairperson organizes campus cleanup and beautification projects. This includes coordinating with students, teachers, parents, and outside organizations. Volunteers are needed to help with these projects. For more detailed job description click here.
Dance Support
Chair: Open
Description: Run coat check at Homecoming and TOLO dances. If needed, work with Volunteer Coordinator to provide chaperones. For more detailed job description click here.
Festival of the Arts
Chairs: Open
Description: This event recognizes and celebrates the artistic talents of MSHS students for photography, horticulture design, painting, ceramics, music, digital arts, and culinary arts. The chairpersons are responsible for coordinating with staff and students for the planning, promotion, and execution of this annual event. For more detailed job description click here.
Financial Review
Chairs: Open
Description: Serve on committee to perform two reviews of finances (in January and July). Each review takes about 2-3 hours. For more detailed job description click here.
Grad Night 2018*
Chairs: Heidi Smith & Marci Nicholson
Description: Begin the early stages of planning for the all-night celebration for Class of 2018's graduating seniors. The graduates will board buses immediately following the June 2018 Graduation Ceremony for an action-packed, fun-filled time at various venues while remaining safe and sober. Description: Seek out and apply for grants from external agencies. Work with MSHS Administration to determine areas of need. For more detailed job description click here.
Grants*
Chairs: Anne Stedman
Description: Oversee the teacher/technology grant funding committee for student enrichment in the classroom and around the school (at the beginning of the school year and throughout the year as funding provides). This includes setting grant application deadlines, providing grant applications to teachers and staff, reviewing all grant requests with committee members, and making funding recommendations based on MSHS PTSA’s grant budget that best benefit the students at MSHS. Legislative*
Chair: Open
Description: Serve on PTSA advocacy committee, attend PTSA Legislative Assembly. Educate and motivate members to carry out the Washington State PTA mission to be advocates for all students. The chairperson attends monthly board meetings to inform the board about advocacy issues, writes letters and make calls to elected officials on behalf of issues that impact our students. Membership*
Chair: Open
Description: Committee encourages parents, students, staff, and community members to join PTSA with the objective of strengthening the family unit through involvement at school. The chairperson’s responsibilities include collecting fees, processing members in the WSPTA system, and maintaining accurate membership records. For more detailed job description click here.
Nominating Committee
Members: Open
Description: Nominating committee members must be approved by the general membership (typically at the General Membership Meeting in January). Committee work includes holding confidential meetings, reviewing nominations, and searching for the best qualified candidates for leadership roles in MSHS PTSA. SAT and ACT Preparation
Chair: Michele Madani
Description: Organize, promote, and oversee the management of SAT and ACT preparation courses and practice tests at Mount Si.
Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council Delegates
Delegates: Open
Description: Attend 3-4 SV PTSA General Council meetings and report council news to MSHS PTSA Board and membership as needed.
Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation Liaison
Liaison: Open
Description: The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation Liaison is a member of the SVSF Board of Directors. This liaison attends the MSHS PTSA board meetings to foster better communication and partnerships between the two organizations for the betterment of MSHS students.
Staff Appreciation (Meals)*
Chairs: Open
Description: Organize various special meals for staff, including: Back-to-School Breakfast, Open House Dinner, November Parent-Teacher Conferences Dinner, Classified Staff Appreciation Week meal in March, and Teacher Appreciation Week meal in May. The high school has over 100 staff members, so work with the Volunteer Coordinator to obtain a large number of volunteers. For more detailed job description click here.

Description: Organize a committee to provide recognition and visible appreciation to all teachers and staff throughout the school year. This can include a welcome back to school event, birthdays, etc. For more detailed job description click here.
Student Recognition

Description: Update the Academic Hall of Achievement as needed throughout the year. Work with MSHS Administration to determine other avenues for recognizing deserving students, such as Honor Roll, Valedictorian/Salutatorian gifts, etc. For more detailed job description click here.

Teacher Wish List
Chair: Dawn Harper and Nan McCutchen
Description: Regularly communicate with teachers and staff to create and maintain an ongoing list of items that are needed (beyond the scope of the Grant program). Update the list regularly on the website and in various publications. This committee only comes with a small budget, so most items need to be donated by parents and community members. Volunteer Coordinator

Description: Manage the recruitment of volunteers for various PTSA and school programs and events throughout the year. Duties include managing a volunteer database, sending out volunteer requests, and coordinating with committee chairs and PTSA presidents to help fill their volunteer needs as required. Chair: Pam Dowling
Description: Manage the MSHS PTSA website, associated email accounts, document storage, and other related technology. The website is update, at minimum, on a weekly basis.
